What a girl sees is a self-centered ego maniac that's not going to be able to look after her at all, because he isn't thinking about her and doesn't listen to what she wants to say. Not a good relationship prospect.

One other way of saying it is that guys try to be interesting. They figure they need to be interesting for a girl to be thinking about them. Sorry guys, but it fails that way. You need to be enthusiastic about the girl, not interesting to obtain her attention. Did you ever see two interesting people on a date. It is hilarious! They're both so busy trying to be interesting to the other that neither has time to be interested in another.
